It is also the right order of operations: the clear stops the overflows that stripe the fascias, so the wash actually lasts. Doing the wash first and leaving blocked gutters is painting over rust.

What the wash reveals

Clean boards show their true condition, and sometimes the news is that cleaning was never the fix: UV-chalked uPVC that stays dull, cracked boards, perished felt trays at the eaves, or timber roofline under flaking paint. An honest operator photographs anything like that and prices repair or replacement separately in writing. Timber fascias in particular should never be aggressively washed: the paint fails faster, and the quote should say so.
